NBA admits several missed calls at end of Knicks-76ers Game 2

The NBA released its Last Two-Minute Report from Monday's games, and there was a pretty extensive list of missed calls in the New York Knicks' 104-101 Game 2 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers were furious after the loss, and according to the league's own report that had every reason to be angry.

The most significant of the missed calls came when the league admits two different calls should have been called on the Knicks twice during an inbounds play involving Tyrese Maxey.

The report says that Knicks guard Jalen Brunson pulled Maxey's jersey "away from his body" as he attempted to break free, limiting his ability to move freely and accept the pass.

After he was unable to secure the pass, the ball flew into the air resulting in a scramble for it. During that scramble New York's Josh Hart initiated lower body contact with Maxey, sending him off balance and forcing him to fall to the floor.

Both plays should have been called fouls on the Knicks.

While all of that was happening, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse was attempting to call a timeout but was not granted one by the officials. The NBA's report does acknowledge Nurse's attempt, but does not say whether or not it should have been granted.

Instead, the report simply says "an attempt to call a timeout by Coach Nurse (PHI) during this play is neither recognized nor granted by the officials; the timeout request is simultaneous to Hart making contact with the ball and PHI not having possession."

Those calls were the most controversial and received the most attention because of when they happened and the nature of them.

But there were also two other missed calls in the final two minutes from the league's report.

The league also said that Joel Embiid should have been called for a foul on Donte DiVincenzo during a fight for a loose ball. That call was not made and actually helped the Knicks as Brunson hit a three-point shot from the corner to cut the 76ers lead from five points to two points.

The league also said OG Anunoby should have been called for a defensive three-second violation a few moments before that. That non-called worked in the 76ers favor as Maxey made a three-point shot.

The 76ers played both games in New York very close, and they definitely feel like they should have at least won one of those games, but they return home to Philadelphia on Thursday night down 2-0 in the series.
